Term 1 Agenda

Topic

Discussion Focus

Mr Daddy Notes

Councillors Notes

Introduce purpose of School Sports Council (SSC).

Delegate roles and responsibilities to the children.

All children excited to start their roles.

Jayden and Cordelia to be head of the council.

Discuss what we like about sport in school.

What do we currently like about sport? Equipment, PE, clubs, lunchtimes, break times?

The children enjoy sport within the school. They are happy with most equipment, however they do not feel break times have a structure.

The children would like to try and create a structure to break times. Their thoughts were to set a sport each day and to vary space between different age groups.

Discuss how school sport could be improved.

What would we like to be changed or added? Equipment, PE Topics, lunchtimes, break times?

The children’s main concern was how equipment is used at break times; some children said they do not always feel they get opportunity to partake in games.

The children would like some footballs, basketballs, another set of goalposts, basketball nets (with a backboard) and some gymnastic ribbons.

Discuss use of field and playground for activities.

How can the field be used? How could the playground be used?

Zones? Different sport each week? Equipment usage?

The children proposed different activities every two days. Some playground based, some field based. A timetable of different sports to be issued to classes.

The children would like to ask members of the school for which activities they would like to be hosted. The children would like a rota published for leading.

Sport notice board

Would this be a good idea? Display pictures, fixtures, out of school sport achievement, sports star of the week.

The children were excited about putting together a school sport board. They proposed having pictures from PE, clubs, and break times, and having a short profile of themselves on the board.

The children asked if sports stars of the week could have their name added to the board each term. The children could also have an area for achievements outside of school. A termly topic was spoken about.

Sports Council

What would you like as being a part of the sports council? Badges, notebook, support?

The children asked if they could have sports council badges, and possibly their own area on the school website.

The children would like sports council badges.

Future Topics: Whole school event (sport relief?), Intra school competitions, Resource packs, rota of activities and roles.
