What support will there be for my child's emotional and social needs?
The school has always worked hard to build good working relationships with children, parents/carers and the community. On a day to day basis the teachers, teaching assistants and midday supervisors build good relationships with the children. The ethos of the school is to be caring and considerate to everyone. This builds a good support network for all children. Children are encouraged to speak to adults they feel confident with about any problems that they may have in school or outside of school. The problems are considered in context and dealt with promptly. The school uses the 1, 2, 3 Magic system for behavioural issues (See Behaviour Policy). Any issues raised, which involve safe guarding issues, are taken immediately to Mrs Naomi Weaver (Head Teacher) or Mr Patrick Sanderson (Deputy Head Teacher).
If further support is needed we have an ELSA trained teaching assistant (Mrs L Everett) who can make a programme of support to help with the needs of the child. This could include individual work or group work. We use a graduated approach to help support children in the school. If behaviour needs further support in school, then the school can access the Behaviour Outreach Support Service which can give advice and support to the child, family and school. CAMHS can also be contacted to help with advice and support of a child.
