Year 1
In Year 1, we hope to promote a life-long love of learning through making children leaders of their own learning journey. Children are empowered by being encouraged to help choose their own topics, resulting in them being active participants in their own learning, whilst covering the statutory objectives in the National Curriculum.
Children’s independence is fostered and nurtured, and they are urged to think critically about the steps they need to make to facilitate their own learning. All children are valued as individuals and their achievements, both in and out of school, are celebrated in a happy learning environment.
Good communication links with parents promote this positive atmosphere and we seek to actively maintain this to give each child in Year 1 a successful and happy experience at St. Michael’s.
