Year 5
Welcome to Year 5, an exciting and important stage in our pupils journey at St Michael's Church of England Primary School! In this year, children continue to grow in confidence, independence and maturity as they prepare for the responsibilities of Upper Key Stage 2, and the transition into Year 6. They are encouraged to take greater ownership of their learning, think critically and challenge themselves across the curriculum. There is a strong focus on developing fluency and depth in reading, writing and mathematics, alongside opportunities to apply these skills through reasoning, problem solving and creative learning. Pupils are supported to become reflective learners who show resilience and determination when faced with new challenges. Year 5 also provides many opportunities for pupils to take on responsibility, work collaboratively and contribute positively to the wider school community. Through a range of enriching experiences, they develop as well-rounded individuals. Rooted in our Christian values - including hope, endurance and trust - Year 5 is a year where pupils are encouraged to believe and achieve to be the best that they can be!
