Welcome to Year 3, an exciting step in our pupils’ journey as they move into Key Stage 2 at St Michael’s Church of England Primary School.
This year marks a time of growing independence and new opportunities, as pupils build on their Key Stage 1 foundations and begin to develop greater confidence in their learning. Across the curriculum, children are encouraged to deepen their understanding, ask thoughtful questions and take increasing ownership of their work.
In Year 3, there is a strong focus on developing core skills in reading, writing and mathematics, alongside a broad and engaging curriculum that inspires curiosity and creativity. Pupils are supported to become resilient learners, learning to persevere, reflect and take pride in their achievements.
As part of our school community, children begin to embrace new responsibilities and develop as thoughtful, respectful role models for younger pupils.
Rooted in our Christian values—including hope, trust and endurance—Year 3 is a year where pupils continue to believe and achieve to be the best that they can be.
