Experiences in Religious Education
At St Michael’s, visitors, visits and first-hand experiences are carefully planned to enrich and deepen pupils’ learning in Religious Education. Opportunities to meet people of faith, visit places of worship and engage with members of different communities help children bring their learning to life and develop a deeper understanding of the beliefs, practices and traditions they study. Collective Worship, assemblies and special events – often supported by Reverend Vaughan and other visitors where possible – further enhance pupils’ knowledge of Christianity and other religions and worldviews.
Experiences in Physical Education
At St Michael’s, we provide a wide range of sporting opportunities to enrich our PE curriculum. We work closely with the School Games network, giving pupils opportunities to develop skills, take part in competitions, and experience new sports.
We regularly invite athletes, coaches, and local specialists into school to deliver workshops and enrichment activities. Pupils also benefit from visits to local facilities, such as golf courses and sports venues, helping to broaden their experiences and inspire a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity.
Our whole-school enrichment events provide powerful opportunities to live out our value of Koinonia, strengthening the sense of belonging, fellowship and community that lies at the heart of St Michael’s. Whether enjoying our annual beach trip, sharing the excitement of the Christmas pantomime or performing together at our whole-school music concert, pupils, staff and families come together to create shared experiences and lasting memories. These events help to build relationships across year groups, foster a strong sense of unity and remind us that we are at our best when we learn, celebrate and grow together.
